More About Us

The Corporation of Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall is a charitable not for profit organization managing two of Canada’s premier concert halls. Massey Hall opened its doors in 1894 as a gift to the city from Hart Massey and has seen generations of renowned artists cross its stage.  This venerable hall remains a vibrant part of Toronto’s musical life.  Roy Thomson Hall opened in 1982 as the new home for the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. The new concert hall was named after Roy Thomson, Lord Thomson of Fleet, thanks to a naming gift from the Thomson family of Toronto.  Today both Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall play a central role in the vitality of Toronto’s musical life. The Corporation presents a diverse schedule of artists and performances from classical and jazz to lectures, world music, comedy and rock. Roy Thomson Hall is home to the TSO and the gala screenings of the Toronto International Film Festival as well as the venue of choice for numerous corporate and private functions.

The Corporation of Massey Hall and Roy Thomson Hall is run by a management team headed by President and Chief Executive Officer Charles S. Cutts and is governed by a volunteer Board of Governors.
