There’s a lot to love about the multi-talented comedian Craig Ferguson, particularly, his sincere, uncensored (and hilarious) commentary on pop culture, social issues and ‘Why everything sucks.’
Toronto fans will also love that he is spending an evening at Massey Hall on April 23. Tickets for this must see event go on sale this Saturday Feb 13 at noon. If you can’t wait until Saturday to get tickets, you have two options to take advantage of – Friends First members can purchase tickets starting Feb 10 at 10 AM and American Express Cardholders can purchase tickets with their credit cards, starting Thursday Feb 11 at 10 AM
Just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, Ta-da! Enter Matt Andersen show number two. If you can’t make it to his first show at Glenn Gould Studio on February 27, or if just one show won’t quench your thirst for exceptional soulful bluesy live music, pick up a ticket for the March 8 gig starting Thursday at 11am.
PERFORMANCES
Angela Hewitt (Friday): Angela Hewitt reprises her win of the International Bach Piano Competition held at Roy Thomson Hall 25 years ago. David Clayton-Thomas with the TSO (Friday and Saturday): The former singer of Blood, Sweat, and Tears, David Clayton-Thomas, and his band join the Toronto Symphony Orchestra for two very special concerts back on the TSO’s once-home, Massey Hall. David Clayton-Thomas also recently sent Soundboard his thoughts on his upcoming (debut!) on the Massey Hall stage and you can read it here.
Karina Gauvin (Sunday): The first of our International Vocal Recitals series this season, Karina Gauvin performs at Roy Thomson Hall this Valentine’s Day. Intrigued? WEB WATCH
Hawksley Workman, who performs at Massey on April 24 has been busy indeed. In addition to his recent ‘snow angel’ contest, he’s been working hard on a film called “Score: A Hockey Musical” with fellow Canadian musician Dave Bidini (of the Rheostatics). The film is set to open October 22 and is currently being shot here in Toronto, Chartattack reports. Other Canadian musicians appearing in the film, according to the Vancouver Sun are Nelly Furtado and Marc Jordan, as well as the English-born star of Grease, Olivia Newton-John.
